Meet Russell

Rev. Dr. Russell Antonio Goodwin, Sr. Bio

Rev. Dr. Russell Antonio Goodwin, Sr. grew up in Milwaukee, WI. The great-grandson of a Pastor, Russell, had the spirit of service instilled in him at a very early age. On August 11, 1991, Russell acknowledged his call into the ministry. He was active in youth ministry, band, and sports. While going to St. Bernadette Middle School, Russell was elected vice-President of his class. Because of His election, he was selected to attend a luncheon with many US Congressmen and Senators. While at the luncheon, one Congressman began to tell Russell how important it was for him to be in public service. After the luncheon, his teacher told him He was one person away from knowing the President of the United States. This experience opened Russell's eyes to public service. While attending 8th grade at Audubon Middle School, Russell volunteered to be a Teacher's Aide for Autistic Students. He also appeared and wrote segments for Time Warner's Kids Biz and was nominated for a National Award and recognized by the Superintendent for one of the segments He wrote, produced, and had a leading role.

In 1996 Russell became a trained and certified Peer Educator and Mediator with the Teen Health Crew. Over the span of 4 years, Russell traveled to many Elementary, Middle, and High Schools to teach about different issues with kids and teens throughout Milwaukee Public Schools.

In Russell's first year at Shorewood High School, his class traveled to the Milwaukee County Board's Chambers and had a mock session. When he sat at one of the County Supervisors' desks, he knew in his heart that he would one day return to this seat to fulfill a lifelong dream that would better his community.

While attending Shorewood High School, Russell was chosen by his International Relations teacher to attend a dinner with the British Ambassador to the United States. While at this prestigious dinner, the British Ambassador and his wife took a liking to Russell and began to encourage Russell to be involved in public service locally and nationally. Russell took these matters to heart.

After leaving the University of Memphis, Russell started his very own Record Label. He served as the Chairman and CEO, overseeing a small staff of employees and volunteers. Russell helped to create and produce a successful RnB and Hip Hop group as well as Gospel Acts. He also taught and mentored many young children who are now successful producers during his tenure. Russell also started an initiative with business partners and government officials to combat teen pregnancy, STDs, and lack of school supplies. This initiative was "Youth Awareness Day," and on this day fed thousands of Milwaukee County kids, talked with them about issues, and gave them school supplies.

In 2003, after years of training, He was ordained as a Pastor. He later founded CUOTM, now known as The Movement Center Church. Over the years, through the ministry, He has helped to feed hundreds of homeless individuals and families and helped provide many of them with shelter. Goodwin is a much sought after speaker referred to as innovative, cutting edge, a brilliant thinker, and leading from the future!

His TV Show, "Get On the Move Today," has been broadcast to many homes in Wisconsin. In 2012, Russell became an Author, writing his first book, "How to Manifest the Good you Desire from God." On September 5, 2015, he received his Honorary Doctorate of Divinity. In 2017 He released a Single and Short Film to go with it entitled "I Just Can't Live Without You."
In 2018 He released two new books on Amazon, "How to Deal with Your Haters" and "Stop Complaining and Start Confessing" in addition, he released a Full-Length Album entitled "The Lord is Great." He also released two Albums, "Every Chance I Get" and "The Gospel According to Jazz," as well as messages and books.

In April 2020, Russell Antonio Goodwin, Sr. was Elected to the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors. He quickly became known as a negotiator, and as a result, he was chosen to be the Chairman of the powerful Transportation, Public Works, and Transit Committee. Even though he was not Re-Elected, he believes that God was in the words of Joel Osteen, "Ordering His Steps."

Russell Goodwin is a wonderful husband to his lovely wife, Misty Goodwin, and together they have six beautiful children and one Goddaughter. They reside in Aldermanic District 9.
